Scholarships

This program will support the award of a scholarship and a travel stipend (up to $1500) to attend the IFA Annual Convention. Scholarship candidates must be U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university, with a major or primary focus in one or more of these areas of study - business, finance, marketing, food service, hospitality, franchising, or entrepreneurship. Applicants must also submit a business plan up to 10 pages on a business concept.

The Don DeBolt Franchising Scholarship Program is named in honor of IFA’s past president who served from 1995 to 2004.  The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and support students who have participated in DECA’s Franchising/Entrepreneurship Competitive Events who are enrolled in an accredited college/university with studies in business or franchise management by providing financial assistance. A competitive one-time award will be presented annually and the recipient will receive a travel stipend (up to $1500) to attend the IFA Annual Convention coordinated through DECA.

The IFA Franchise Education & Research Foundation and the Stewart and Jane Bainum Fund of the Community Foundation have paired to sponsor this competitive one-time award to be presented annually. Additionally, the individual selected will receive a complimentary registration to attend IFA's Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend (up to $1500) to attend. To be eligible for this one-time award, applicant must: (1) be enrolled in a U.S. accredited college of university with studies in business, hospitality, or franchise management, (2) have sophomore, junior or senior college class standing for the period of the scholarship, and (3) be a U.S. citizen. The Franchise Education and Research Foundation and Choice Hotels International have collaborated to sponsor this scholarship award. A competitive one-time award will be presented annually. Additionally, the individual selected will be invited to the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend up to $1500 to attend. Applicants must: (1) be enrolled in an accredited college or university with studies in business, hospitality, or franchise management, (2) have junior or senior college class standing for the period of the scholarship, (3) be a U.S. citizen attending an U.S. accredited college/university in the U.S.

Additionally, the individual selected will be invited to the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend (up to $1500) to attend. To be eligible for this one-time award, applicant must: (1) be enrolled in an U.S. accredited college or university with studies in business, hospitality, or franchise management, (2) have sophomore, junior or senior college class standing for the period of the scholarship, and (3) be a U.S. citizen.

The Franchise Education and Research Foundation and the Fred DeLuca Foundation have partnered to sponsor this educational scholarship. Created in memory of the co-founder of Subway, the competitive one-time scholarship award will provide financial assistance to students with studies in business/entrepreneurship or franchise management. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited college/university in the U.S. In addition to the one-time competitive scholarship, the recipients will receive a complimentary registration to attend IFA’s Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend (up to $1500) to attend.

The Irl Marshall CFE scholarship award of $2,500. The total amount of this scholarship will be applied toward the tuition for programs offered for ICFE credit and must be used within a three-year period. Amounts not used within three years of the time of the award will be forfeited, returning into the general scholarship fund.

The Gray Plant Mooty CFE Scholarship will support the award of two (2) Certified Franchise Executive scholarships each year in the amount of $2,500 each to be applied toward the tuition for programs offered for ICFE credit and must be used within a three-year period. Amounts not used within three years of the time of the award will be forfeited, returning into the general scholarship fund.
